Wilsons Advisory Private Wealth adds depth with Richards addition
Thu 8th July, 2021

Wilsons Advisory has added further depth to its Private Wealth team with the exciting addition of Ted Richards. He will be spearheading the expansion of our client service offering with his expertise in technology, marketing and business development.

Head of Private Wealth, Casimir Skillecorn, said the recruitment of Richards will be a valuable addition.

"Ted has a fresh perspective and will help us take an innovative approach as we embrace digital solutions to empower advisers and connect clients to our firm. The financial services industry is an incredibly competitive environment, and Ted has the qualities we are looking for as we expand our business into the future. His unique blend of experience in financial services and technology, together with his proven leadership qualities, will add strength to our team," Skillecorn said.

"Our focus is on delivering great outcomes for our clients through the expertise of our people. We've listened to the market, and our clients increasingly want to consume their investment and financial advice on-demand. Ted will use his experience in this area to connect with clients and keep them across the range of exciting investment opportunities we are providing through the new podcast we are developing."

Richards, who was most recently at Six Park, has also worked for Citigroup and Airlie Funds Management alongside his 16-year career as a professional footballer with the Essendon Bombers and Sydney Swans clubs. Drawn to investing when he was in his late teens, Richards says he is looking forward to leveraging his experience in financial technology to improve outcomes for Wilsons Advisory clients.

"I was lucky enough to be a part of some great teams during my AFL career, and I'm excited to be joining Wilsons Advisory. They have an outstanding reputation delivering first class investment opportunities for their clients," Richards said

"My passion for investing developed in my late teens, and ever since. I was hooked. As much as I love investing, I'm also a competitor. I love testing myself, and investment management presents new challenges and opportunities every day.

"I also draw a lot of enjoyment from helping people, and I'm really excited to be working closely with clients to improve their investment experience."

Wilsons Advisory has bolstered its ranks in recent months with senior hires in the Institutional Equities teams including Jeanne Truijens leading Corporate Access, commencing this month.

CEO Brad Gale said the addition of quality people reflects the ambition of the firm to always deliver great outcomes for clients.

“We’re pursuing our growth strategy with a great deal of energy, and the calibre of the people we are welcoming to our team further supports our approach to be the most innovative, exciting and client-focused advisory firm in the market,” he said.

Richards will be based in Melbourne and commences his role on 17 July.
